Interesting factoid from the Washington Post:
In 2010, almost 260,000 Alaskans voted in the midterm elections. Two years later, in a presidential year, it was just over 300,000. The odds are good that turnout in the Last Frontier this year could be closer to the latter number, given the state’s contested Senate race. Meaning that almost 200,000 more Texans are banned from voting for their senator than will vote for who will be the next senator of Alaska. The number of people on parole who are barred from voting in Texas is about one-third higher than the number of people likely to vote in Alaska. Even in much-smaller Georgia, estimates from the U.S. Election Project of the number of people barred from voting is greater than the number of people picking between Mark Begich (D) and Dan Sullivan (R).

Feed the flat (not perforated) side of ballot in secrecy sleeve into the voting machine to reduce chance it gets jammed. #akelect #aksen — Alaska Democrats (@AlaskaDemocrats) November 4, 2014
On this Election Day, Democrats are facing the “worst” map in more than 50 years in their uphill battle to hold the Senate, President Barack Obama said Tuesday. Calling in to Connecticut’s WNPR radio station in support of Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy, Obama took a bearish view of Senate Democrats’ chances on Tuesday — a stark contrast with a much more bullish assessment by Vice President Joe Biden made just minutes before… This is possibly the worst possible group of states for Democrats since Dwight Eisenhower. There are a lot of states that are being contested where they just tend to tilt Republican. And Democrats are competitive, but they tend to tilt that way.”…Calling in to a different Connecticut station to boost Malloy, Biden predicted that Democrats would end up with 52 votes in the Senate and eke out a slew of tough races.

This from a reader: “And then there was the guy on the corner of Northern Lights holding a Yes On 2 legalize marijuana sign. He was twirling it and looked eager to start the party.
Sen. Bert Stedman is in town, doing some last minute campaigning for Senate candidate Dan Sullivan.

Also according to FiveThirtyEight, we’ve got scads of exit interviewers here. He’ll be getting info from there and live blogging it as it comes. Bookmark it.
I’ll be live blogging until it’s all over. Send tips to amandamcoyne@yahoo.com, or leave comments here.

Saw it on CNN’s Live Wall.
If you have time, can you send me a little quote from whatever you’re reading with a link? here is fine.
First exit polls coming in, looks like a bloodbath. Very early KY results have McConnell up big.
